Since the 1960s, studies have shown that heavy-handed policing and militarized responses tend to make protests more volatile — not less.

A large body of research, spanning more than 50 years, shows that heavy-handed policing and militarized responses to civil unrest tend to make protests more volatile — not less.

I really dislike this dismissive attitude towards “obvious” news.

I think you put the wrong word in quotes. “News”

No, I didn’t. That would be exactly what I’m saying I dislike.

Its not news tho. Its history. So even calling this news is wrong, which is why “news” should be the word in quotes

Dismissing the article as not being “news” is exactly the same sentiment as the news being “obvious”.

It’s not new information to you, but you are just speaking for yourself. Rather than holding back to avoid annoying people like you, I’d rather things be shared freely to inform the masses.
