So much this. I started using it during Covid, and it’s been so great that I prefer Sams over any other shopping experience.
At least it’s not that bad this time. No idea how she’s gonna go over in Miami, which may prove to be a weak spot depending how her campaign sells her, but at least she’s not quite as weak as Ol Chuckles.
It’ll be interesting to see how Debbie Powell campaigns against Rick Scott. Her early messaging is pretty weak, and her team is obviously trying to tie her in to the abortion amendment that might make the ballot (which is probably a mistake).
But there’s a lot to dislike about Rick Scott, so they have room to grow into a coherent message. Which would be a nice change of pace from the Florida Democratic Party, which can never seem to get out of its own way.
She faces very long odds in general, but especially given the party migration that’s happening in Florida the last few years. Here’s hoping she can put up the good fight and make Rick actually work for it for a change.
We had to do this in Colorado public schools in the late 80s.
30 years later I’ve got a mouth full of false teeth.
Not sure it worked out like they wanted it to.
Mostly private and home school in my area. The district is still showing a 10% loss in enrollment despite being the #1 relocation destination in the US in 2023 (according to Uhaul, so take from that what you will). We’re gaining population, and still public school enrollment is going down.
Private and charter schools are all completely full. There are so many homeschoolers that businesses that do extra-curriculars (music lessons, dance programs, sports, etc) are all offering morning and mid-day sessions to keep up with demand. The local little league is talking about having two teams limited to homeschoolers so they can practice mid-day and free up the fields during after school hours.
Meanwhile the public schools struggle to keep their teacher slots, which are allocated based on enrollment.
Is it “don’t use them and just keep track of your stuff”? Because that seems like the most right answer here.
Yeah, that happens when you’ve got JP-8 running through the tap water lines.
You can be absolutely sure they’re selling it to every company and national government that will pay for it.
If you’re part of a marginalized group that some government would like to commit a human rights violation against in the last decade, chances are Google was a gleeful enabler on the government side.
Wow, that’s a shock. RIP.
I’ll most miss the musicians spreading random delight. Those were always fun to watch.
iMessage does end-to-end encryption by default, but only between iMessage clients (blue bubbles). I believe (someone correct if I’m wrong) that android’s basic messaging app does SMS by default, which does not support encryption. So iMessage can communicate with android phones, but only by falling back to basic unencrypted messaging, which it displays in a green bubble.
There are other proprietary iMessage features too, like animated messages, that don’t work for android at all. And I suppose to be fair to Apple users, it is kind of annoying having an android in a group chat because tagging a message (thumbs up or whatever) doesn’t actually tag it, it just sends a message that says says “so-and-so liked a message”. Not worth bullying someone over, but I get the irritation.
Maybe in a few hundred years when automated manufacturing is churning out low cost goods using the infinite resources found around the solar system (also gathered and processed by automated processes). But there’s no “age of jobless abundance” until the raw materials are so abundant that they’re effectively value-less. Which they are very much not, and won’t be in the lifetime of anyone currently living.
The worlds richest man needs to learn a lot of things, chief among them a little basic economics.
Blue bubble in iMessage means the message is encrypted and fully functional. Green bubble means it’s not encrypted and some features (like sharing videos) wont work properly.
Apple has gained a lot of market share in recent years, and apparently it’s a thing to make fun of that one person in a group text who’s using an android and forcing all the bubbles to be green. Kinda silly, and I’m sure Google’s ultimate goal here is getting access to more user data (over any concerns about “openness” or bullying), but there you go.
Also Covid. Can’t speak for everywhere, but that whole debacle had a LOT of people switch to home schooling (my state has an excellent licensed online program available). Many have since gone back, but enough have stuck with it that all the “kid services” (extra curriculars) providers in our area have added home school sessions during the middle of the day.
I mean yes, but also no. Engine immobilization is good, but it’s easily defeated with $40 worth of electronics and a little know-how (which car theft gangs have and is well documented in the news already).
Immobilizers might stop idiots on tiktok but modern vehicles are more electronic than mechanical, and are built with no concept of security so there are plenty of vulnerabilities for dedicated thieves to use.
Yep. The DNC used this as a defense in open court and still somehow people don’t know about it.
I remember when my oldest sister bought her first AR-15 at the hardware store, for cash. They didn’t so much as ask for ID. It wasn’t locked up or anything, just take it off the shelf and go check out, no big deal.
This was in 1991.
I’m never going to purchase Bud Lite again.
Because it’s terrible and I’m not an alcoholic.
SpaceX launches rockets multiple times per week (just here in Florida) at a great price and has an almost unbelievable success record. Second place isn’t even close.
Elon Musk is a nut job, but for anyone that needs to put anything in orbit SpaceX is really the best option.
Nobody knows git. We all just run the few basic commands, then again with the -f switch just in case. Then if that doesn’t work, reclone.
