I’m wondering what her specialty is, it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s something the administration wants to ban. Of course, that’s pure supposition since it’s not listed in the article, but an effective way to ban women’s health and affirming care would be to remove those that provide that care.
I think Brave New World is really a cut above most of the other dystopian novels. The themes of conditioning and being overwhelmed with work, games, drugs and sex so much you don’t care about anything else are incredibly relevant in the current era.

It’s somehow even worse if you’re trans and American. Honestly I almost wish blatant oppression would begin so I could seek asylum somewhere.
I’d like to leave the United States first. Someplace diverse where I can walk or use public transit, and that has clean water and air. If there’s wilderness, hiking trails, or any other kind of nature relatively close that would be pretty swell.
Yeah, I’ve been itching to play Beat Saber without giving these other assholes money. I miss that game so much.

I’m not being dismissive of their view, I understand the need for self-preservation. I think the crux of it is how do I get folks who agree things are going wrong to move from that space into one of more action? Almost everyone I’m talking to at work agrees with me, but no one is interested in organizing or preparing, and that’s what baffles me most.
I don’t know myself - I don’t have some grand plan or idea. Im a regular person (albeit one with a better historical understanding of history due to education). I’m just scared about what’s coming next, and I’m completely isolated at the end of the day. Rather than buy a bunch of guns and ammo, I would prefer to connect with folks to build mutual support, or to prepare to strike/protest/boycott (or whatever seems most effective at the time).

I’m not lecturing, I’m asking for help on how to approach this. This is closer to frustrated bitching than lecturing.
Most of the folks I talk to hear agree with me that things are going wrong, or that x,y, or z is a problem, but not enough to do anything about it. I have heard a few times that, " I want to do something, but I have to protect myself."
I used that term to show that they are privileged folks who likely won’t be directly targeted by the administration, at least at first.
I had the original back in the day. So many of these are brutal, I always felt bad including them in sessions.

I studied politics, and even then I never wanted to run. I just wanted to be a staffer and work on policy and tactics.
I left politics because I felt I couldn’t help people, and inter party politics were not something I was interested in. I went back to school so I could help people more directly as a nurse.
I don’t think I’m a great candidate, but I feel like I have to do something. No one is coming to save us, we have to so it ourselves.

Does it classify overtime as “more than 160 hours worked in a 4 week period”, because that’s the original language I saw. Can still work you to death and not pay extra.
