Sorry, man. I’ve heard you have to work at it. You might get to 12 or 10 if you practice some more.

When I’m in the zone, my heart rate slows, as do my breathing rate and rate of blinking. I forget about hunger, thirst, sleep, toilet, and all other problems. The only thing in the world is the thing I’m working on. Time passes unnoticed. Afterwards it all comes crashing back.

Flow. I’ve experienced and seek that dragon everytime I code. Only tuning down the voices, numbers messages and extern noise cam achieve it. Also playing techno without lirics and hiding my phone from sigh.
Most of my very productive work is this state, where I’m absolutely sure of where I’m going and just need extra hands to type.

Not hard enough because the TV remote has never so much as shimmied in my direction from the other end of the couch, no matter how hard I try.

Sure you can, we just don’t get to say when and on what we concentrate.

“Can we do useful things today?”

Brain: “haha…no. we’re going to spend 8 hours straight learning this game engine”

        “That’s actually kinda usef–”

Brain: “…and then never touch it again”

Having ADHD is a bit like every interaction with your brain reading like the “Anakin trolling Padme” meme

Well, if you evaporate orange juice to a damp goo, then compress it in a hydraulic press, then…

Fuck if I know, I forgot what we were talking about. 🤷‍♂️

    It depends.

On a good day with a decent amount of sleep, good food (not too light and not too heavy) and interesting tasks, I find that I can dive my head pretty deep into concentration and really filter out the world around me.

Doing this takes a lot from me, so it usually only lasts up to around an hour before I need a good break.

But most days, I don’t end up concentrating that hard.

I have extensive practice in straining to force myself to concentrate. Much like moving one’s bowels, pushing hard doesn’t necessarily result in better output.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That’s it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it’s in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
