Striped Owl
Costa Rica, March 2025
Wow, what a beauty. I’m familiar with the Spectacled and the Crested Owls of Costa Rica, but not so much the Striped. The triple black of the beak, eyes, and ears looks really good.
Look at those ear tufts!! Beautiful!
They’re some of the most beautiful plumes I’ve come across! I like how they are distinctly ear-like, unlike, say the Crested Owl where they look like long eyebrows.
This owl makes me think of a monochrome Long Eared with the saturation turned up. I also like the “grill marks” pattern on the wings. 😄
Looks like a squishy (murderous) plushie. I so want to scritch its head and tickle its ears.
The ears are amazing! Plushies and mammals are better for cuddles though. Birds feel like paper mâché to me.
