I use basic Google Pixel Camera app that forces me to have Google Photos installed so I can view my photos. My workaround is just going to the gallery directly. I don’t use GrapheneOS’s camera as I’ve seen worse quality when comparing two. I heard of modded Google Camera’s for specific devices. Any suggestions?

I used it on many occasions and it preformed worse quality photos. I want the best. :/

That’s weird. The image quality is really good for me. Did you check the photo settings and set the camera resolution on max?

From my own experience, it all depends on what software you use to view the picture. For an example, Windows 10’s own image viewer, Photos, can view the pictures as pixelated (at least it used to few years ago, might depend of GPU and whatnot), while other image viewers like qimgv lets you zoom in as close as specific words without pixelating the image.

The images below shows just this. The first image shows the image with no zoom, as how qimgv let you see the image when you open the file. The second image shows the image 100% zoomed in, and the third image shows a extreme close-up on 1 word in qimgv.

The photo was taken with the Open Camera app with a Google Pixel 6a (camera resolution set to the highest setting: 4032x3024 (12,19 MP)).

The screenshot below shows the same image, but as much zoomed in I could possible zoom in, in Fossify Gallery.

You choose some version to try and apply a config for your phone from the app settings menu. I think it also depends on what ROM you’re running which app is the best

Is it trial and error or what? For now I tried it and I got worse quality of the photo compared to stock one. Also I’m lost which one should I choose. This seems overcomplicated to my eye.

disable network comms for Gcam and install the magisk module that fakes the necessary services are installed (play store, photos) and you’re good. the opensource variants are lacking, to say the least.

But for Magisk you’re assuming that I have rooted my smartphone correct? I haven’t…
