While Netflix has boasted the most overall TV usage for four years straight, YouTube has now seen four straight months of TV share increase.

I thought this would’ve been the case almost 10 years ago. Especially when streaming wasn’t littered with ads.

Makes sense to me that streaming would get worse only after it managed to capture that market.

I’d guess that the stats were thrown off every small business that has an annoying TV blaring in the background

It’s based on Neilson ratings so it’s entirely dependent on whatever methodology they choose to use at the time. They can’t actually directly count what every TV is tuned to.

Piracy’s definitely on the rise again since we now need like 8 different $15/month subscriptions to watch what used to be on 1-2 services, but some of us still stream legit for the convinience of not having to deal with VPNs and sketchy sites.

I get live television through Sling. Piracy doesn’t really work if you want live TV.

Just break into the studio to watch them film the show in person. 😌

Use an antenna and a HDHomeRun. I can watch our local channels directly through Plex.

Network TV still has a huge benefit: it’s not capable of watching you.

(Not accounting for the smart TVs, which are basically the only kind of TV you can buy now.)

Honestly, I’m a little surprised that it’s taken this long to accomplish that.

Surely, but the content is the same old stuff on each app.
