The more I’m reading about both local LEO preparations (those being shared) and how Street Medics usually interact well with local EMS, the more it feels like options should be as much of a prep concern as safety.
I’m getting a ride there, but should shit go south, well, I’m north. And who knows what those rates will look like if scores of people want to book at the same time?

In some 30 hours, it all hits the fan, and I have no idea what to expect.
Generally go with someone or better yet a group.
I’m going to be embedded with Street Medics, so the risk is lower than for somebody just sauntering down there. This does not change having an exit strategy should things go south. The official protest lasts only until before sunset, and we plan to leave at 20.00.
The key word there is “plan” … best laid plans.
The best recommendation I can give you is to actually use a bike. A bike will get you out of a situation quickly, it can be used as a shield in an emergency to put something between you and an aggressor, and it has several other uses as well that make it strategically good and improve your safety odds. Incidentally you will probably also be wearing a helmet which is also good for safety. Keep these things in mind and choose wisely.
I’m short one (1) bike to have a bike as an option.
