The men who are supposedly against abortion would be first in fucking line to get one if men could get pregnant…

Forced pregnancy is a weapon for the subjugation of women. Weak men fear strong women and competition. Easy as that.

I mean if you are tolerant towards conscription (AKA Death) then why shouldn’t you be tolerant towards giving life ?

      • What does conscription have to do with any of this? And I think most people are tolerant towards ‘giving life’. No-one is talking about criminalising pregnancy. You’re responding to a comment about forcing women to carry pregnancies, which is very different. Disappointing that so many men are against abortion, but it shouldn’t be surprising - after all, it’s not them who have to suffer.

Conscription = Forcing men to die in wars, where there’s ACTUAL suffering. Leftists are pretty tolerant to that (E.g: Finland) because it’s not women who have to get shot in the face or have PTSD.

Same reasoning here. Child-Birth isn’t as traumatic as you claim & I have the healthcare industry to back me up. So my question is if you don’t have a problem with forced death, then why have a problem with forced life (So my point is why the hypocrisy)

Especially when you’ll complain about fertility rates later down the road.

Cause it needs to be a choice. Forcing someone to be born into a family that didn’t want them is recipe for disaster.

Choice of whom ?? The child who should be given a chance to live or adults who want to kill a child because they want to play god ?

Why not give the child to a childless couple that wants a child ?

Sure as soon as all the current kids in the system are adopted to loving homes, Then you may convince me that this is an option.

Growing up unwanted or just flat out poor is haunting. I recall an episode of naked and afraid where a dude in his 50s is still working through being put into the system because his mom gave him up. Have some empathy for the people who suffer there entire lives because their parents didnt get a choice.

In the article it says that 78% of Democrat men are in favor of abortion most cases, while for republican men its only 19%. Quite the difference, though not surprising given what conservative talking points entail when it comes to bodily autonomy.

I add that to gigantic the pile of reasons why right-wingers are repugnand and dont deserve to ruin a womens life with their antiks.

If you are a women in online dating, its worth asking a few sorting questions on social issues before a meetup, so you can dodge these bullets. Worked wonders for me.

Then they aren’t men. Real men don’t try and control women. We are secure enough that we don’t mind others making decisions about their own bodies.

Agreed. I realized at some point that if I said I supported choice, it must never be my choice.

Abortion should be a decision between the person seeking the abortion and their doctor/care provider.

That’s it. No hedging about rape or incest, number of weeks, the reason one is being sought, or the manner of the procedure.

      I support access to abortion.

I want to live in a world where no entity gets to use my organs without my consent. I want to live in an equitable / just world.

Therefore, I want to live in a world where no fetus gets to use any person’s uterus without their consent. I support access to abortion.

Yes, it does. Being an asshole is a choice. Men don’t choose to be assholes. For instance Andrew rate us an asshole. He also isn’t a man. He’s an insecure douchebag.

It doesn’t matter what men anyone without female reproductive organs think, it’s none of their fucking business. It shouldn’t even be a discussion.

A man person without female reproductive organs only gets to decide whether they’ll be there or not if the woman person with female reproductive organs decides to not terminate the pregnancy.

Edit: had to modify my statement to satisfy the @SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one. Apparently they know a lot of trans men who are against abortion.

The word is ‘divisive’, as in it divides people - causes division.

Are we supposed to avoid talking about misogyny like this? Because this wouldn’t be a divisive topic if men didn’t try to force women to have pregnancies they aren’t ready for.

Yes I spelled the word wrong. English makes no sense.

        This article is super questionable.

The point is the people in power will twist things as much as needed to try to draw lines between anything BUT the working and owning class.

This is clearly an attempt to do that. We cant feed the propaganda machine.

To be clear, having discussions about misogyny and abortion is important. But I’m super hesitant to engage with anything that tries to control the conversation with some “poll shows” type bullshit.

This produces a free market of violence. We can see already from the free market of the goods and services, and the free market of ideas, that free markets tend toward worse outcomes pretty much every time. If anything, a free market of violence would tend towards a world where only assholes survive.
