We’re not far off from artificial wombs, though. In principle, once they get invented, governments and rich people will start doing this, and extremely misogynistic countries will start killing off women since they would no longer be needed to make babies.

I doubt the expense of artificial wombs will be worth it on a large scale. At most I expect artificial wombs to be a solution for rich men who can’t get a woman, at least for the next few decades. In the future we may be able to get some cool shit though the technology (i.e. gay couples having children) but keeping a living sack alive takes quite a lot of resources and monitoring. I doubt we’ll be going Clone Wars any time soon.

I don’t really see the point in killing off women. As far as I know, the most misogynistic countries treat women as property, not as vermin; someone to clean your house, raise your kids, and have sex with. Rich men in scumbag countries like that will probably forcefully take women’s eggs to procreate and take their “”“partners”“” out of the equation, but I don’t think there’s a need to kill anyone.

It’s so heinous to think about – the fact that it’s possible for a country to forcibly cut a woman open and suck out her egg cells against her will is such B-level horror movie shit and yet it’s so plausible. It’s nauseating. Why even have women if all they’re going to be is subjugated with no real chance to have any agency? Why would evolution favor such an evil situation?
