A psychiatrist is a medical professional in my country, while a psichologist is a therapist with no license to recommend or prescribe medication.
In the US, those terms are reversed; a psychiatrist is a medical doctor and a psychologist is not.
Germany handles it the same way as the USA in this case.
Wrong way round.
