Why not complete the hat trick? Granted, with inflation, it will probably cost two trillion. But in the end, we’ll get the same result - failing to achieve our objective.
That’s assuming that “winning” a war is the objective and I don’t think that’s the case. Lots of people make lots of money from war, among many other objectives, and that is more true the longer the wars drag on.
