A Lords committee hears Thursday is the new Friday for city-centre workers - but only in the capital.

Just one possible example would be that Ethanol is used in making beer, wines, and spirits. If pre-pandemic it was found people were socialising after work more than they are now, the consumption of those things would have been greater compared to now. I imagine they will want people socialising more after work to buy more booze to make the most of the imported Ethanol.

I’m also going to have to jump on the “And?” bandwagon here.

I thought the alcohol produced was a result of the fermenting process, not an added product

This was my mistake and you’re right. I had read as part of an announcement in the news that Ethanol is used for beer, wine, and spirits. Seems I wasn’t the only fool.

No worries! In the past, I’ve had issues with replies posting under comments posting out of order. I just guessed the glitch was back, and am relieved that it isn’t! Double entendre cheers!

Building sits empty, rents are lost, value decreases.

We’re having two different conversations here, aren’t we? I could have asked anything and the answer would be the same.

Ethanol -> WFH jump still hasn’t been explained

You just pour the industrial ethanol over the hops. Delicious beer.

            :D

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don’t post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think “reputable news source” needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
